The Data or Software Developer Internship at Epiroc Digital Hub South Africa is a 12-month hybrid programme based in Centurion, Pretoria. This role offers graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in software design, development, and testing while contributing to innovative digital solutions in the mining and construction industries. Interns will work closely with development teams, participate in Scrum ceremonies, and learn best practices in coding, debugging, and documentation. The programme is designed to build strong technical foundations in programming, data pipelines, analytics, and visualization, preparing graduates for impactful careers in software and data development within a global organisation that values innovation, sustainability, and diversity.

Responsibilities

• Assist in software design, development, and testing
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code
• Debug and resolve software defects
• Document code changes and maintain source control
• Collaborate with team members and technical support
• Report progress during Scrum ceremonies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Honours degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Industrial Engineering or a related field
• Aged between 20 and 28
• Proficiency in Python programming
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Understanding of data pipelines and ETL processes
• Familiarity with Apache Kafka or similar streaming platforms
• Experience with data analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
• Basic knowledge of statistical analysis, descriptive analytics, and data interpretation
